    Scheduling C-section for my dog…
My 4.5yr doberman is pregnant for the first time – mated unplanned on 11/17/08, scheduled to whelp 15-19/01/09 – if I want to schedule a c-section due to concerns with her ability to give birth naturally due to an accident suffered in October of 2005, which left her almost lame, with crushed pelvic and hip bones, how early should it be scheduled before her natural whelping?

    Thanks,

    Chicca’s Mom

I would recommend having her c-section as close to her due date as possible. You do not want to have puppies with immature lungs, and more expense. I would keep a close eye on her and probably have it done on the 14th or 15th. If she does start going into labor get her to your vet as soon as possible. Also talk with your vet also and get his suggestions.
